Ticket sales are underway as the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation has launched its 50/50 lottery fundraiser.
UHKF 50/50 is an online lottery fundraiser that aims to support Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care. It will take place monthly with a minimum prize of $5,000.

“We are thrilled to host the 50/50 lottery fundraiser,” Tom Zsolnay, foundation president and CEO, said in a news release. “It is an exciting opportunity for people to win cash prizes and show community support at the same time.”

A provincewide explosion of COVID-19 cases on Friday was mirrored in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, which reported 23 new cases of the virus.
There were 103 people with COVID in the health unit on Friday, an increase of 18 as five people recovered.

The Grenville region’s active cases ballooned to 47 on Friday, 14 more than the previous day. The increase in Grenville cases corresponded with a spike in the virus in Ottawa, which reported 246 new cases.

Kingston Health Sciences Centre is postponing all elective surgeries, non-urgent procedures and clinic visits as the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.
Dr. David Pichora, president and CEO of the centre, said in a news release that the move was done at the request of Ontario Health so the centre would have more capacity to support COVID-10 patients requiring critical care with little notice.
