Movies have long been brought to us ‘in glorious Technicolor’. Now the visual effects pioneer and media property is officially entering adland with a new creative branch born of its production services division. The new Technicolor Creative Studios is a global network that seeks to further the transformation of the entertainment and experiential segments of the marketing industry. Its efforts will primarily center on film, gaming, episodic, experiential and advertising projects.

Technicolor Creative Studios is a creative network encompassing visual effects and production company The Mill, visual effects studio MPC, animation studio Mikros Animation and episodic and film studio Mr X.

Incumbent Todd Gestrin, 56, is facing a challenge from Nichole Piland, 44, to represent Zone 5. Gestrin was appointed to the school board after Nick Brooks stepped down in the fall of 2019 because he was transferred to a new job in Washington.
Gestrin previously served one full term on the board about a decade ago. He said he did not seek another term on the board at that time because he was working in Springfield and was not as accessible to members of the public as he would have liked.
POLAND Brian Varley, 49, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, May 1, 2021, at his home.
Brian was born Oct. 13, 1971, in Youngstown, the son of James H. and Nancy Walcott Varley. He married his Camp Fitch crush, Kelly Patton of Hubbard, on June 17, 1995. Together they started a family rooted in love, ethnic traditions and an open-door policy to all they called “friends.”
Brian was a lifelong resident of Poland. He was a 1990 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, where he played football and proudly wore the Cardinal red and gold.
He pursued a career in the trades as an electrician through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 64 and was employed by Dickey Electric for many years before taking a position as facilities manager with Crothall Healthcare at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
