OYSTER BAY, New York (WABC) Interwoven in the history of Oyster Bay, NY, a hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island, are untold stories of African Americans that have played significant roles in shaping the fabric of the town. The incredible life of David Carll is one of these stories and his great-great-grandchildren Denise Evans-Sheppard, Actress and Singer Vanessa Williams, Iris Williams, and Francis Carl are sharing that story in celebration of Black History Month. David Carll was born a free man right out outside of Cold Springs, New York, and ended up residing in Oyster Bay, said Vanessa Williams.
