Courthouse to honor law enforcement amid Light Ohio Blue campaign | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer CADIZ For the third consecutive year, the Harrison County Courthouse will be illuminated with blue lights to show support for local law enforcement. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department has participated in the statewide “Light Ohio Blue” campaign since 2019. The program honors law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty as well as those currently serving and encourages local residents and businesses to show their support for law enforcement personnel by placing blue lights around the exterior of their homes and businesses. Sheriff Ronald “Joe” Myers requested the Harrison County Board of Commissioners’ support for this year’s campaign during Wednesday’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Commissioners hoping to resolve matter with CIC | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer CADIZ The Harrison County Board of Commissioners are hoping to settle a potential legal matter with the Harrison County Community Improvement Corporation. Earlier this year, commissioners hired Roetzel and Andress LPA to provide legal services on behalf of the board pertaining to an undisclosed matter with the CIC and its economic development. Due to the situation’s potential to become a legal matter, few details have been released. Commissioners previously stated the county is acting in the best interest of its taxpayers by ensuring economic development funds are properly handled. A few weeks ago, Commissioner Paul Coffland said the commissioners’ attorney sent a letter to the CIC regarding a public records request along with a request to meet. Commissioners did not receive the response they were looking for.

The Harrison County Board of Commissioners signed two separate agreements Wednesday morning one for the village of Harrisville and the other for the village of Scio.
