Strathcona County has a new top cop.
Inspector Dale Kendall has been promoted and is the new Superintendent in Charge of Strathcona County RCMP starting in early May.

Kendall is taking the reins of the position from Superintendent Dave Kalist, who took the position in 2017. He will be moving on to a position with K-Division. This week, Kalist told local council he will continue to live in Strathcona County with his family regardless of being stationed with his new role in Edmonton.

Murder charges have been laid after a 17-year-old girl was fatally stabbed at a Leduc school Monday morning.
Court records show Dylan Thomas Pountney, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jennifer Louise Winkler, who was stabbed to death at Christ the King Catholic High School.

RCMP arrested Pountney as he hid in a subdivision a kilometre-and-a-half southeast of the school. First-degree murder charges are typically laid when investigators believe a killing was planned and deliberate.
LEDUC, Alta. A 17-year-old female student is dead and a fellow student is in police custody after a violent assault at a school just south of Edmonton. The attack happened Monday morning in a classroom at Christ the King School in Leduc.
