Renovation of the new Prineville Police Department building is nearing conclusion and will likely be occupied and functional this spring. They are finishing things up inside, then we are going to do some additional improvements outside to clean it up, said Sgt. James Peterson.
The police department is converting a three-story medical building at the corner of Loper Avenue and Elm Street. It is currently surrounded by chain link fencing, and inside, workers have removed walls to enable creation of a new floor plan suited for police work.

A refusal to wear a mask at a Central Oregon Barrel Racing Association event, followed by a refusal to leave when asked to resulted in an arrest Saturday.
A spectator was taken into custody by Prineville Police Department officers at the Crook County Fairgrounds and charged with second-degree criminal trespass after reportedly being rude and profane to a security guard, refusing to comply with state requirements, and then refusing to leave after being asked to do so.
