Dr Theresa Marcotte Retires After Serving 22 Years With IECC

May 14, 2021 Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Dr. Theresa Marcotte is retiring after 22 years with the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District. During her career, Marcotte has worked in a variety of positions at all four colleges Frontier, Lincoln Trail, Olney Central and Wabash Valley. She has been a nursing instructor, department head and administrator. She was Dean of Instruction at Wabash Valley College from 2007 to 2010 and has served the last five years in her current position at OCC. Marcotte’s legacy includes integrating innovative technology into the classrooms to ensure a new generation of nurses and radiologists are ready to care for the needs of their patients. She attained grant funds to purchase IV pumps, interactive Apple TVs for the classrooms and new student software.

Two injured in Caldwell Co single-vehicle crash

Photo from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office One man was flown to an Evansville hospital and another was injured in a single-vehicle collision in Caldwell County Monday. According to a news release, deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the one mile marker of Highway 903 around 1:40 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle operated by 19-year old Jose Mijes of Princeton was heading south bound when he advised he swerved to miss an oncoming north bound vehicle close to the center line. His right tires dropped off the shoulder, and he over-corrected, causing the vehicle to cross the lanes multiple times before striking the face of a concrete bridge, making the vehicle overturn.

(WFIE) - The United States restricts travel from India this week as the country battles a massive COVID-19 variant outbreak. We’re hearing from local medical professionals about the chances of variants like this appearing in our region. Dr. Gina Huhnke, the Director of the Emergency Department at Deaconess Hospital says, as of right now, there are no cases of the India variant in our region. From what we know so far about that variant, Dr. Huhnke says not having as much access to the vaccine and having large numbers of people together increases the chances of producing the COVID-19 variant.
