NEW DELHI: The farmers’ protest against the contentious farm laws dominated the debate on the presidential motion in Lok Sabha on Tuesday as speakers across party lines, with most in the opposition benches accusing the government of being insensitive towards the “annadatas” (food providers), when the people in the country and the world over are concerned and yet the Presidential address fails to mention it. The treasury benches called it an international conspiracy and accused opposition parties of halting reforms that are meant to bring relief to the small farmers.
Opposition members asked the government in Lok Sabha to shed its “arrogance” over the three farm laws even as BJP MPs hailed the Centre for its welfare and pro-farmer measures.
