MLB Trade Rumors
The Brewers announced they’ve acquired left-hander
Kyle Lobstein from the Nationals in exchange for cash considerations. He’s been optioned to Triple-A Nashville. To create space on the 40-man roster, righty
Ryan Weber was designated for assignment. Additionally, Milwaukee announced that infielder
Daniel Robertson has passed through outright waivers.
Washington selected Lobstein to the roster late last month, marking his first major league action in five years. The 31-year-old made three appearances totaling 1 1/3 innings before the Nats designated him for assignment last weekend. Prior to his promotion, Lobstein had spent the year with Triple-A Rochester, where he impressively tossed 21 1/3 innings of 1.69 ERA ball, striking out a lofty 29.8% of opposing hitters against an average 9.5% walk rate.

Matt Olson was deep into his offseason film study back home in Atlanta when he had finally seen enough. He was disgusted.
Coming off a career-worst season in which he hit .195 with 14 home runs, the A’s first baseman could not bear to watch another clip of his swing. Olson knew that wasn’t him in those clips. It was some other hitter whose busted approach was the result of an amalgamation of the many quick fixes that were attempted under the tight constraints of a shortened 60-game regular-season schedule.
“I had a really bad year, in my opinion,” Olson said. “I felt, in a way, it let the team down and we came up short of the World Series. You check yourself in the mirror after the season. I felt motivated to fix some stuff and wanted to come out strong.”
NEW YORK (AP) â His ERA over 1.00 for the first time this season, Jacob deGrom will skip the All-Star Game.
The Mets’ ace gave up a pair of solo home runs and got his third straight no-decision as New York beat the Brewers 4-3 on Wednesday in the eight-inning opener of a doubleheader split.
Milwaukee won the second game 5-0 behind two-run homers by Manny Pina and Luis UrÃas along with Willy Adames’ solo shot. UrÃas homered twice in the doubleheader to raise his total to 12, after he hit none last year.
DeGrom allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks â his seventh start with double-digit strikeouts this season. His ERA has risen from 0.50 to 1.08 in his last three starts.
