The Green Forest Lady Tigers softball season came to an end with a 12-0 loss to Lincoln in the first round of the district tournament on Thursday, April 29.
The loss prevented the Lady Tigers from advancing any further in postseason play but Green Forest still had its best season in several years, finishing with a 7-13 record.
I think this is the most games that Green Forest has won in probably a decade, said Daniel Fitts, who completed his second season as the Tigers head coach. I still think we should have won double digits. Some of them got canceled, some games I thought we should win.

Green Forest coach Daniel Fitts wanted to see how the Lady Tigers would respond after Jasper scored three runs in the first inning last Thursday.
The Lady Tigers answered their coachs curiosity with three runs in the bottom of the inning, then scored 11 times in the second inning on the way to an 18-6 victory.
I was really happy with how we responded, especially after they scored, Fitts said. When somebody scores on you, especially first, a lot of times its how you react in the next inning that determines how the game goes. The fact that we were patient, hit the ball and ran the bases very well, I think that was a big thing.

The Green Forest Lady Tigers came roaring back from spring break, sweeping a doubleheader from Bergman on Monday, March 29, by a combined score of 39-3.
Green Forest won the opener 18-0, then took the second game 21-3.
Theyre kind of down, so we like to take advantage of that, Green Forest coach Daniel Fitts said.
The Lady Tigers had 10 hits in the first game, including three by Katie Underdown, who drove in four runs and scored two. Leah Evans also had three hits, with two runs batted in and a run scored. Maddie Youngblood had two hits, drove in three runs and scored four times. Emma Taylor had one hit, drove in two runs and also scored four runs. Gracie Youngblood went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
