Two people were arrested at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday while at Canton Street on alleged drug possession charges following a traffic stop, according to a Hopkinsville Police Department report.
The report states officers observed a vehicle driving with a registration plate that did not match the vehicle. The vehicle then stopped at a gas station on Canton Street.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Ashley A. Ball, 30, Cadiz, and Daniel Bane, 35, Hopkinsville.
While stopped, police made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and were asked to exit the vehicle and were then detained, the report said.
While detaining the two individuals, officers allegedly noticed that Ball was holding something in her hand, according to the report. Ball opened her hand and she was allegedly holding small plastic baggie containing methamphetamine, the report stated.
A vehicle found with a stolen license plate led to the driver and passenger being charged with possession of meth Thursday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 35-year-old Daniel Bane was stopped on Canton Street after authorities noticed his license plate did not belong to his vehicle.
During the stop, a glass pipe was reportedly found in the vehicle and a cigarette pack containing suspected meth.
Police say Bane’s passenger 30-year-old Ashley Ball was found to have a bag with a substance believed to be meth in her hand.
They are both charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Bane was also charged with operating a vehicle with an expired license and theft of a motor vehicle registration plate.
