Last Charge Against Daniel Guild Dismissed in Oneida County

Image Courtesy: WAOW TV RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — An Oneida County judge has ordered the last felony count against former Rhinelander City Administrator Daniel Guild be dismissed with prejudice. Guild was in court on Thursday where Judge Kevin Klein ordered one count of misconduct in office for failure to perform a known duty to be dropped, clearing Guild’s record from the allegations of record tampering that led to his removal from the position. Two previous counts of tampering with public records were dismissed in December 2020. Tuesday’s action was the result of Guild not accumulating any felony charges over a certain time frame.

CREDIT HODAGTV By Katie Thoreson Rhinelander has a new city administrator. The Rhinelander city council unanimously approved Zach Vruwink’s contract Wednesday night in a special session. Earlier this week, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment contract with Vruwink. Mayor Frederickson hired Vruwink as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after the termination of former administrator Daniel Guild following his arrest. Council members had a few questions before voting mostly about Vruwink’s salary, retirement compensation, and travel allotment.

Interim Administrator to stay on in Rhinelander

The Rhinelander City Council unanimously approved Vruwink’s contract in special session on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment agreement with Vruwink. Vruwink was hired as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after former administrator Daniel Guild was fired. Guild was accused of withholding information that was part of a freedom of information request. Vruwink’s salary, $111,500 a year, is more than past city administrators.
