Attempted murder charge dropped after victim a no show for court hearing

Local prosecutors dropped an attempted murder charge against a Hutchinson man jailed since November after the shooting victim missed a hearing in the case for a second time. Reno County Magistrate Daniel Gilligan allowed the attempted second-degree murder count against Levi Wickliffe to be dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can be refiled. Reno County Deputy District Attorney Andrew Davidson said he plans to do so once he makes arrangements to bring the victim back to Hutchinson from out of state. Wickliffe, meanwhile, was released from jail, where’s he’s been held since the Nov. 20 shooting on a $100,000 bond. Officers were dispatched to 623 E. Ave F about 9:30 that night on a report of a shooting. There, officers found Bryan Stallworth, 37, with a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to a Wichita Area hospital for treatment and later released.
