A week after arriving in Green River, Christopher Nielsen recalls feeling stressed about not having any job prospects and the possibility of being homeless. He had come to Green River from Utah to help look after his friends’ two children as they worked to establish themselves after moving to the city.
Dealing with a lack of sleep as well, Nielsen told Third Judicial District Court Judge Suzannah Robinson one of the children, 5-year-old Anthony James Radcliff, wasn’t listening to him as he tried to convince the child to eat his meal.
“I lost my temper and shook Anthony,” he said.

We’re thankful to see the Green River Fire Department healing from the trial disgraced former fire chief Mike Nomis put it through. Part of that healing process involved firefighters, some of whom had known Nomis for decades, talking about how his actions impacted them on a professional and personal level.

The a mandate requiring people in Sweetwater County to wear facial coverings in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was extended last week, with its new expiration date set for Jan. 4, though a new statewide facial covering order announced Monday took effect Wednesday and expires Jan. 9.
Along with the mandate’s extension, other changes have been made. One of those changes regards the requiring anyone 12 years of age or older to wear a mask while encouraging children aged three to 11 to wear a covering.
