MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Mid-Southerners who have been laid off or had their hours cut during the COVID-19 pandemic are trying to find work.
According to the Tennessee Department of Labor, there are more than 250,000 job openings across the state and scammers are taking advantage of people looking for legitimate employment.
Joe Fazio had just been laid off from his sales job when he got an email advertising an open secret shopper position.
EMPIRE, Ohio – Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash in Jefferson County, Friday afternoon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on SR 152 near Empire, around 2:25 pm..
A motorcycle driven by, 18-year-old Daniel Irwin of Empire, reportedly went left of center, and hit a pick-up truck head-on. Irwin, and a 17-year-old female passenger were ejected. They were not wearing helmets and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a second motorcycle overturned his own bike to avoid the crash. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The occupants of the pick-up truck were not injured.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Mid-Southerners were scammed out of more money than any other region in Tennessee last year.
A new report from the Mid-South Better Business Bureau shows the amount of money stolen by scammers in this area was more than Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga combined.
One couple was scammed while looking for a dachshund puppy.
The victim reported to the BBB that she found the website ravendach.com and “the dogs were so pretty!”
