Buckfield homeowner arrested after standoff with police State police say Daniel Sweetser met them at the door with an ax. By Mark LaflammeSun Journal Share BUCKFIELD A local man was arrested at his home Thursday after state police arrived to talk about a protection order and he answered the door with an ax in hand. Police said Daniel Sweetser, 34, was arrested on charges of failing to appear on a charge of violating a protection order and domestic violence-related criminal mischief. Sweetser came out of his home at 50 Tucker Road peacefully after a two-hour standoff, state police said. State police initially arrived shortly before 1 p.m. to investigate a possible violation of a protection order. When Sweetser opened the door with an ax in hand, police withdrew and called for backup. Oxford County Sheriff’s officials said Sweetser acted hostile toward the officers and withdrew inside.

Police Standoff In Buckfield, Maine According to a press release from the Maine State Police: When Troopers attempted to make contact with Daniel Sweetser, 34, of Buckfield, he answered the door carrying an ax. Troopers withdrew and called for assistance. The on-duty Sergeant made contact with the man over the phone and he agreed to come out peacefully. He was arrested and was transported to Kennebec County Jail. According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, there are several law enforcement agencies at the scene of a reported standoff in the small  Maine town of Buckfield. At around 1 PM, Maine State Police troopers and Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to 50 Tucker Road in Buckfield.
