The tribe’s on-again, off-again project is on again, perhaps because a license for a full-fledged downstate casino is up for grabs. The tribe’s Southampton reservation is beyond the state’s control and it needs no permission from New York for the 76,000-square-foot casino it aims to build there. But a license from the state is far more appealing, as it would allow for a vastly broader array of games and a more accessible location and thus much more revenue.

Hershey Farm Cafe & Bakery opens at Tanger Outlets

Hershey Farm has opened a new cafe at Tanger Outlet Center, its first expansion outside its complex in Ronks. Hershey Farm Cafe & Bakery occupies a 1,500-square-foot site that previously housed a Subway at the East Lampeter Township shopping center. The cafe sells paninis, soups and salads as well as goods including whoopie pies. The drinks menu includes coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as fruit smoothies. Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn has its full-service eatery at 240 Hartman Bridge Road, where it also has lodging, retail shops, a bakery and event space. Ed Hershey opened it in 1975 and sold it 21 years later. The complex, which is now owned by Deryl Stoltzfus, Clair Zeager and Brian Ludwig, was later expanded.

My Cookie Dealer opens Riverhead pop-up at Tanger Outlet Center

Cookie junkies can now get their fix in Riverhead. The couple behind My Cookie Dealer a bakery that sells cookies primarily through Instagram opened their first brick and mortar store at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead Friday. What’s now become a cookie empire all started when Juan Morel, a professional bodybuilder, began posting photos of his wife Karen’s creative cookies on his Instagram page. “I’m a foodie and I love to eat,” Mr. Morel said Friday. “So I started posting [the cookies] and people were losing their minds. I was getting three to 400 DMs from people looking to buy them.”
