Dive Brief:
Developer Brookfield Properties announced plans Tuesday for Phase ll of its 48-acre mixed-use development in the Southeast section of Washington, D.C.
The second phase of The Yards includes 3.4 million square feet of new development across 10 buildings that will provide office, mixed-income residential offerings, restaurants, retail and public amenities, according to a release emailed to Construction Dive. Construction will take place over the next decade, the release said.
It will also see the creation of Yards Place, a cobblestone main street that will run from the Navy Yard Metro station to the Anacostia River. This phase project will also connect the neighborhood with the one surrounding the Nationals Park baseball stadium.
