No. 13 USC has a date with destiny tomorrow as it faces a potentially explosive Oregon offense in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
The Trojans have emerged as a top defense in the Pac-12 under new defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. They’ve allowed the second-fewest points per game in the conference with 25 but face an Oregon team with the third-most points per game at 34.2.
Itâs been an uncanny and unpredictable path to this point, but on Friday, Dec. 18., Oregon will play in their second straight Pac-12 Championship.
The Ducks are right where they were supposed to be, on top of the conference in line to face USC. But thereâs an asterisk. After a 3-0 start, head coach Mario Cristobal and his program lost back-to-back games and looked vulnerable on both sides of the ball. Then, when Washingtonâs program was shipwrecked with a COVID-19 outbreak, Oregon snuck by, avoiding the head-to-head matchup and replacing the Huskies in Fridayâs game.Â
The Ducks have played just five games, but here are some superlative awards for the abbreviated season.

“I think when you pair that (2020) class with this class, now we’re getting closer to where the roster needs to look like,” Ducks coach Mario Cristobal said. Sean Meagher/Staff

EUGENE By any measure, Wednesday’s early national signing day was a resounding success at Oregon for a third consecutive year.
Mario Cristobal and his staff are turning identifying elite talent, recruiting players to UO’s football palace in the Pacific Northwest and putting pen to paper into an annual display of one-upmanship with themselves and beginning to build a talent gap within the Pac-12. Oregon signed 20 players throughout Wednesday morning to the No. 6 class in the country in the 247Sports Composite, another program-best.
