Two sanitation workers guide the driver as he reverses the vehicle, inch-by-inch, dodging a low-hanging wire here, a vehicle’s rear view mirror there and steers slowly to the end of the narrow lane. When he parks, the workers remove long iron hooks from the vehicle and use them to lift the lid of a blocked manhole, revealing a bubbling, filthy drain.

The water utility said the production capacity at Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi water treatment plants was reduced by 25 per cent to 30 per cent. Water supply in areas of East Delhi, Northeast Delhi, South Delhi and NDMC will remain affected in the evening. The situation may remain so for a week until the situation improves, it said.

Raghav Chadha writes to ML Khattar over lesser water, high ammonia levels in Yamuna ANI | Updated: Apr 14, 2021 22:27 IST New Delhi [India], April 14 (ANI): Delhi Jal board Chairman Raghav Chadha on Wednesday sought the intervention of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the issue of a significant reduction in raw water supply by the state government and increased ammonia levels in River Yamuna. Stating that Delhi NCR is facing frequent crises in terms of raw water supply, Chadha in a letter to Khattar said, Water at the two water treatment plants of NCT of Delhi i.e. Wazirabad and Chandrawal is sourced from River Yamuna. This is drawn at Wazirabad Barrage in Delhi. The quantity and quality of raw water at Wazirabad Barrage is dependent on the release of raw water by Haryana. On many occasions, the quality of available water at Wazirabad Barrage is not fit for treatment because of the concentration of pollutants, particularly Ammo
