Synopsis
The order came on the plea by an association representing pilots of Air India seeking suspension of BA tests during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The court directed that the committee place its report before the next date of hearing on May 5.
The Delhi High Court Tuesday directed civil aviation regulator DGCA to set up a medical committee to examine whether breath analyser (BA) tests of pilots and cabin crew need to be conducted or blood tests would suffice as an alternative.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Tuesday asked the Centre and AAP government as to why there was Remdesivir drug scarcity in the national capital when the medication was being widely prescribed for COVID-19 patients whose numbers have surged hugely in the past few days.
On being told by the Centre that Remdesivir can only be administered at hospitals, the high court observed that when oxygen and beds were not available in hospitals for coronavirus patients, then how will they get the drug.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court Tuesday directed the AAP government to file a report on the number of deaths of COVID-19 patients in hospitals and nursing homes here due to the shortage of oxygen as families of the dead patients need to be compensated as it was the state s responsibility. The Delhi government is directed to file report on number of deaths taking place on account of shortage of oxygen in hospitals and nursing homes. It should include name of the patient, ward number, time of death and reason, a bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said and directed that the report be filed in two days.
