The owner of five North Shuswap water utilities has started the process to hand them over to the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District.
Terry Speed, who was in court earlier this year for missing deadlines on safety improvements to his Anglemont utility, submitted a letter last week to the CSRD indicating he wanted to transfer ownership, said the regional district water services co-ordinator.
Terry Langlois said Thursday Speed has asked to transfer his water utilities in Anglemont, Acacia, Celista, Lucerne and View Water (near Lee Creek). About 800 residences in total are hooked up to Speed s water systems.
But the process involved in making the transfer can take a year or more, Langlois said.
