As heavy snow hits Ireland the army is called in to rescue people from snowbound areas including a woman and her newborn child.
Reporter Derek Davis talks to John and Alison Dwyer about the birth of their daughter Natalie during the blizzard. Alison and her newborn baby were then airlifted from their home to Loughlinstown hospital after a neighbour, who is also a nurse, delivered baby Natalie at home. The Dwyers were trapped in their home by snow and icy conditions and were not able to make it to hospital in time.
Those living in isolated areas were not the only ones affected by the heavy snow storms. Roads were blocked across the country and flights in and out of Ireland were delayed or cancelled.

Keeping their distance, a few brave souls braved the ocean for Caring Unlimited s 20th annual Atlantic Plunge on Saturday in Kennebunk.

Caring Unlimited, a domestic violence resource center for York County, offers support services and safety services to anyone affected by domestic violence.
