Dozens jump in to fight domestic violence

The health risks posed by COVID-19 were deemed too great for organizations like Maine Special Olympics and the Natural Resources Council of Maine to gather large groups for an icy plunge, so they figured out other ways.

It’s become a New Year’s tradition along the Maine coast. Dozens, sometimes hundreds of people would stand on beaches in their bathing suits and then race toward the ocean for a group plunge into the icy waters of the Atlantic around the first of January.
