Mariano The scene from the movie “Titanic” where the ship is sinking is an interesting metaphor for our COVID vaccine response. As the ship sinks, a lone violinist, sensing the inevitable, begins playing “Nearer My God to Thee” as passengers ignore him and frantically elbow each other for a seat on one of the few lifeboats available. The violinist is joined by three fellow musicians as a desperate passenger literally rips a life preserver off of a woman lying on deck. It’s every man and woman for themselves.

WEST BOYLSTON   The Worcester County Jail and House of Correction had its first two inmates inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Derrick Pitt of Middletown, Connecticut, and Christian Millett Sr. of Worcester, were both vaccinated Friday. Pitt received the first shot, followed by Millett. Both men took the shot in their left arm.
