So long 2012! Celebrate New Year s Eve with a bang in London
16th Dec 2012 2:48pm | By Marianne Mullin It’s been an immense year for London, so don’t even think about leaving the capital when it comes to seeing it out
2012 has been London’s year – from the frenzied Jubilee celebrations to the better-than-ever-imagined Olympics.
So contemplating not being in the capital to say farewell to the year in which London excelled would be foolish.
And make sure you do it in style; forget moaning that New Year’s Eve is overhyped and settling for an old man’s boozer.
Terminal V has announced the full line-up for its first ever two-day event this year.
After launching in 2017 as a one-day, two-stage event, Terminal V are heading back to Edinburgh this year for a two-day Halloween event on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August.
Among the artists performing at the weekender are Ben UFO, Honey Dijon, Octo Octa and Shanti Celeste, with Avalon Emerson, Ejeca, Ewan McVicar, Floorplan and Moxie also slated for sets.
KiNK will bring his incredible live show to Edinburgh, with other electronic stalwarts in the form of Derrick Carter, Helena Hauff, Mind Against, Paula Temple and Tale of Us also joining Terminal V for the Halloween event.
The show running through February â Black History Month â features new work and reworked older paintings ranging from colorful landscapes to portraits of African American icons. A number of his layered sand and acrylic paintings have a strong textural element because of the tactile nature of the medium and also have a strong textual element because of the message. Eye of the Tiger by Derrick Carter
Take, for example, his portrait of Tiger Woods titled âEye of the Tigerâ. The words SPEED, STRENGTH, POWER, and MOBILITY are spelled out in a boldly- colored composition. Carter credits his interest in text to the time he spent studying graphic design in the (now defunct) Art Institute of Indianapolis, which was located in the Pyramids Office Park in Westside Indianapolis. Â
