Portion of Florence County road could soon be named after fallen police officer

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Florence Police Sgt. Terrence Carraway drove along Hoffmeyer Road moments before losing his life in the Vintage Place shooting in 2018.
Now, that same road could bear his name forever.
“That is the sole purpose of this is the recognition for Officer Carraway that they can see that name and if they don’t know it, they can look it up and find the information and be right in the place it happened,” Allison Carraway said.

FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) - The man accused of killing two Florence law enforcement officers and injuring five others was in court Friday following a postponement due to an issue with the transportation order.
The hearing for Fred Hopkins was held completely virtually and the defendant reported to it over the web from the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center in Richland County, where heâs being held.
FLORENCE, S.C. â Frederick Hopkins will be represented by a court-appointed attorney during a trial after all.Â
Eighth Judicial Circuit Judge Eugene C. Griffith appointed Ronald Hazzard, a public defender from the 15th Judicial Circuit, to represent Hopkins, the man accused of killing two police officers â Florence County sheriff s investigator Farrah Turner and Florence police Sgt. Terrence Carraway â and injuring five more officers during an Oct. 3, 2018, ambush.Â
The Eighth Judicial Circuit includes Newberry, Abbeville, Greenwood, and Laurens counties. The 15th Judicial Circuit includes Horry and Georgetown counties.Â
Griffith previously implied to the media attending another hearing that he would be the judge during the trial.Â

FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) – A court hearing for the man accused in a deadly 2018 ambush shooting in Florence has been postponed.
According to a transportation order, Fred Hopkins was to be brought to the Newberry County Courthouse from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County, where he is being held for his own safety.
The hearing was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., however an apparent issue with the transportation order led to the postponement. Due to a gag order in the case, the nature of the hearing was not known.
