We usually lean to the Gators to lead off this column, but it is impossible for anyone not to be talking about what Sunday was and that the Super Bowl two hours from Gainesville will include the home team for the first time ever. (Interesting, too, that all three Andy Reid Super Bowls have been in the state of Florida). There were so many Tom Brady age references on Twitter compared to Patrick Mahomes that it was dizzying. But the stat that caught my eye was that Brady has now won as many NFC Championships as Aaron Rodgers. That would be one each. Look, we all saw this Super Bowl coming when Brady signed with the Bucs. We were just distracted by that mid-season swoon.

Representatives were unable to confirm UF men’s basketball’s Wednesday night matchup versus North Florida following Keyontae Johnson’s collapse on the court against Florida State.

While this was all that was released in UF’s latest report, other news outlets report other details. A story by USA Today on Monday said medical staff placed Johnson in a medically induced coma. Doctors hope to bring him out of it later in the day.

USA Today received the updates from Johnson’s grandfather, Larry DeJarnett.
All in all, the reports confirm that Keyontae Johnson remains in the same condition since he collapsed on the court on Saturday. Johnson collapsed early in the first half of the Gators’ annual game against the Florida State Seminoles. Staff required a stretcher to take him off the court.
This is the first update via UF no longer reporting Johnson to be in critical condition. All statements until Tuesday reported his condition as such. The Gators forward arrived back in Gainesville yesterday, when he was transferred from Tallahassee Memorial to UF Health.
This news follows a USA Today story reporting Johnson to be in a medically induced coma.
Florida Postpones Game Against UNF
The Gators chose to postpone Wednesday’s game against UNF, per UFAA Communications Director Denver Parler. The makeup date will be determined at a later date. The Gators and the UAA openly thanked UNF for “their flexibility and willingness to make this schedule change.”
