BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - For the first time alleged victims of former LSU Football players Derrius Guice and Drake Davis told their stories in public view.
Abby Owens, Samantha Brennan, and Jade Lewis, who all originally came forward anonymously to oust Guice in a USA Today investigation, dropped their cloak of protection to testify in front of the Legislative Womenâs Caucus. The hearing was called after the Husch-Blackwell report detailed systemic failures on behalf of LSU Leadership and faculty relating to its handling of sexual violence reports.
Community of Character Collaborative announces Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship Recipients
Four high school seniors have been selected by the Community of Character Collaborative as recipients of the 2021 Juanita Haugen Memorial Scholarship. Applicants were required to explain how their actions have reflected any or all of the six characteristics adopted by the Pleasanton Unified School District, City of Pleasanton, the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and other faith and organizations: compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity, and self-discipline. These values are often represented through their service and community involvement.
The scholarship was created to honor the memory of Juanita Haugen, founder of the collaborative, who died in 2007 due to cancer. Mrs. Haugen was a former president not only of the local school board, but also of the California School Boards Association. Paul W. Dixon, 60, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at his home surrounded by his girls after a 5-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He was born in DuBois, son of the Late Carl “Bill” and Ruth (Hoover) Dixon.
In 1989, Paul married the love of his life, Patty (DeGennaro).
Surviving are his wife Patty; daughters, McKenna and Marina, both of Philadelphia; mother-in-law, Winifred DeGennaro; sister-in-law, Theresa (Jeff) Hollingshead; brothers-in-law; Rick, Jeff (Nicole) of Altoona, Alan (Tiffany) DeGennaro of Pittsburgh and George Murray of DuBois; 11 nieces and nephews: Christina Kinder, Mike (Laura, Madi) Murray of Reynoldsville, Dylan (Ashley, Everleigh) Michael of Tennessee, Brittany (Sean) Graziosi of Altoona, Matthew (Julie, Andreh), Kyla, Michael Hollingshead, Julian DeGennaro of Pittsburgh, Paige, Taylor and Alexander of Altoona.
