Wreckage Located In Tennessee River In Downtown Chattanooga May Be The U.S.S. Chattanooga Thursday, April 29, 2021 - by Shawn Ryan, UTC A sonar image shows what may be the U.S.S. Chattanooga on the bottom of the Tennessee River. On either side of the long, dark rectangle in the middle of the screen are wooden framing and planks. The circular object in the upper righthand corner may be part of a paddlewheel. The dark rectangle is an acoustic shadow created by the sonar device. Migratory Gamebird Hunting Seasons Set At April Commission Meeting Monday, April 26, 2021 The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission set the 2021-22 migratory gamebird hunting seasons, heard a preview of the hunting season regulations, and updates on Asian carp and chronic wasting disease (CWD) at its April meeting which concluded Friday at Cedars of Lebanon State Park. The migratory gamebird seasons are set each year. All changes are within the federal framework and include simple date changes for the 2021-22 calendar. There is a modification to the crow season which will allow it to coincide with phase 1 of the dove season. All sandhill crane tags will be issued by computer drawing.

Joe Nunley, 75, passed Friday, April 23, 2021 after an extended illness. Mr. Nunley was born to the late Dr. Joe and Jessie DePriest Nunley in Durham, NC while his father was stationed there in the U.S. Army. They later moved home to McMinnville, TN where he attended elementary and middle school. By the early sixties, they had moved to Murfreesboro where he became a graduate of Central High School. Mr. Nunley went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University where he met his future bride, Anna McDaris. He was chosen and served as Commander of the Sigma Nu organization and was a member of the M.T.S.U. R.O.T.C. He was a graduate of the Class of 1969 only to return later to earn his Master’s in Education and his Education Specialist degrees.
