Iâm not gonna lie to yâall. Iâve got a lot of whiskey samples in bottles scattered all over my abode. Before the pandemic changed the rules about having to sign for alcohol deliveries, I was convinced that my UPS and FedEx guys thought I was the laziest alcoholic ever, shuffling to the door in my sweats to scribble my signature on their handheld devices for yet another alcohol delivery. âThis lazy bastard wonât even leave his house to go to the liquor store!â
They didnât know that a lot of those packages only had a little 50-milliliter bottle in them, or that some packages were filled with really horrible stuff. But one delivery I always look forward to is the latest offering in Jack Danielâs Tennessee Tasters series of spirits that have been developed at the Lynchburg distillery. These have ranged in the past from unique finishes of the brand s iconic mash bill to completely novel productions.
Former Jack Daniel’s master distiller Jeff Arnett, in his 20+ years at this iconic American whiskey distillery, easily made a name for himself during his time there. His credits include the introduction of super-premium whiskeys such as Sinatra Select, Single Barrel Barrel Proof, Single Barrel ‘Heritage Barrel’ and the Tennessee Tasters’ limited edition series. Not quite ready to sit on the sidelines, it has now been unveiled his plans to be part of a new Tennessee whiskey venture.
The new Company Distilling, according to those behind it, has a founders team that includes Arnett, Kris Tatum, former president of the Tennessee Distillers Guild, Corey Clayton, an accomplished construction management professional, Heath Clark, founder of H. Clark Distillery, and Clayton Homes, CEO Kevin Clayton. Plans call for them to open their new facility in the fall of 2021 in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.

Before doing research for this review, I didn’t quite know the depth of the Jack Daniel’s portfolio. Of course, you have the classic No. 7, as well as the Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel being largely the flagship whiskeys. And then of course, the flavored selections consisting of a honey and a cinnamon “fire”.
