LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Both the Lufkin Police Department and the Texas Department of Transportationsâ Lufkin office are urging people to avoid traveling until the weather conditions calm down because of flooded streets and downed power lines.
Lufkin Public Information Officer Jessica Pebsworth said during the first line of storms that moved through Sunday, the cityâs first responders had to perform five high water rescues/ evacuations and once the flood water receded they had to two over a dozen vehicles that were left stranded in the roads.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Both southbound lanes of Business 59/North Street are closed near the FM 1878 intersection Nacogdoches, according to the Texas Department of Transportationâs Lufkin office.
According to a tweet from TxDotâs Lufkin office, the southbound lanes are closed because City of Nacogdoches employees are working to fix a water main break near that location.
Traffic is being diverted to the northbound lanes, the tweet stated. The tweet also stated that the southbound lanes will likely be blocked until Monday morning.

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - TxDOT reports motorists should avoid Raguet Street from Frank Avenue to Spur 339 at SH 103 West in Lufkin after an oversized load reportedly pulled down several power lines.
Law enforcement is on the scene.
Motorists should choose alternate routes until the roadway is clear. Delays should be expected Monday evening.

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) -With an upper-level disturbance heading toward East Texas, parts of the region like Lufkin already starting to see some wintry weather in the form of sleet.

If you’re out driving today, please exercise caution. The Texas Department of Transportation’s Lufkin office just tweeted that TxDOT crews have just started re-treatment of elevated surfaces on U.S. Highway 59 in Angelina County.
