City Council Meeting

Olney City Council met Monday, July 26, at 6 p.m. Mayor Rue Rogers called the meeting to order and opened with a prayer. The Council members present included Brad Simmons, Harrison Wellman, Terri Wipperman and Chuck Stennett. Also present was Mayor Pro-Tem, Tom Parker.

City to sell off foreclosed acreage Staff reports The City of Wichita Falls Property Administration Department will put up For Sale signs on numerous pieces of property that are trust properties within the city.  Trust properties are lots and tracts of land which have been foreclosed upon to collect  tax liens. The properties were previously put up for auction and went unsold at the tax sale. The project is part of a neighborhood revitalization effort spearheaded by the city, according to a news release from the city. Anyone ages 18 and over can submit a bid for a property. Successful bidders cannot owe delinquent taxes on other property in Wichita County, owe an unpaid fine or fee to the city or county or own other property subject to existing penalties for codes enforcement.

Mayor Rue Rogers called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. The Councilmembers present included Mayor Pro-Tem Tom Parker, Phil Jeske, Tommy Kimbro, Chuck Stennett and Terri Wipperman. The meeting began with an invocation by City Administrator Neal Welch. The Citizen Comment Period was filled with a presentation by Oscar Munoz asking to reconsider the ban for vendors selling alcohol within 1,000 feet of Olney ISD schools. (Refer to the full article on Pages 3 and 4, along with Dr. Roach’s response on Page 8.) Mayor Rogers motioned to accept the minutes from the Jan. 25 council meeting, and Wipperman seconded the motion. The mayor tabled agenda item 5, the 10-year Longevity Award, to Michael Jacoba until the next meeting where Jacoba is expected to attend.
