With the continuing blows about offices and business not coming back any time soon, I have exhausted all my options for the business surviving in the downtown area, she wrote. I adore Minneapolis and cannot wait to see it shine again, but, unfortunately, after just shy of nine years it is time for us to say goodbye to downtown.

Residents support affordable housing, but think RPM s plan is too crammed

The fate of an affordable housing development, proposed for a 4.3-acre parcel next to the Lawrence Shopping Center, will be decided at the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment’s March 17 meeting. The zoning board heard three hours’ worth of testimony and public comment at a special meeting March 10, but ran out of time to complete the public hearing on RPM Development LLC’s proposed 70-unit affordable housing development. All of the units, with the exception of one that would be set aside for the onsite superintendent, would be affordable to low- and moderate-income households. RPM Development LLC needs a use variance because duplex and multi-family housing developments are not permitted in the Highway Commercial and Residential-4 zones. Most of the parcel is zoned Highway Commercial, but a sliver of it is zoned R-4.
