5th Street Closure Wednesday – Sunday
Fifth Street in Dubuque will be closed between Main Street and Locust Street on Wednesday, May 19 beginning at 7 p.m. and will remain closed until 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 23 due to a City-permitted special event at the Five Flags Center. This closed area will be used for event vehicle parking.

A Dubuque teen has been cited following a two vehicle crash Saturday morning. A police report shows that 18 year old Tiffany Davis was turning onto Hill Street from University Avenue about 9am Saturday. The Davis vehicle went over the median and struck another vehicle – that was being driven by 31 year old Amanda Black of Dubuque. Davis, and two passengers in the Black vehicle, were taken to area hospitals. Davis has been cited with failure to maintain control of her vehicle, not having a valid driver’s license and not having insurance.
Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst is one of 10 senators in support of a bill to end extra unemployment benefits offered during the pandemic. The group introduced the ‘Get Americans Back to Work Act’ which reduces federal unemployment benefits from $300 per week to $150 per week by the end of May. Benefits would end entirely by June.
A Milwaukee man was arrested by Dubuque Police for several charges early Sunday. 25 year old Dylan Rozic was arrested at around 4:15 a.m. Sunday on charges of first-degree harassment, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated.

City of Dubuque buildings will reopen to the public on Monday. City Hall and other city facilities will reopen after their prolonged closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Face coverings are required upon entry of all city facilities, and social distancing and other safety protocols will remain in place. Residents still are encouraged to conduct city business online or via phone and that if they come to a city facility in person, they are encouraged to make an appointment in advance.
