Art has the power to transform communities and enhance our travels, offering insight into a city s personality, culture and history. We wanted to find the best art experiences in the U.S. – the best art museums, art districts, cities for street art, small town art scenes and sculpture parks.
We have been heading to Arizona in late winter for the last 15 years, beginning with weeklong jaunts pre-retirement, and leading up to monthlong visits more recently.
Arizona has a compelling allure that has grown on us as the years go by. My husband, Ron, and I are always delighted to leave the cold and snows of Colorado behind, and head south.
We always seem to find new things to see and do, so no visit is the same. I love discovering a historic site we have not previously visited â checking out unexplored, scenic vistas and, with luck, catching sight of some desert critters. This year we skipped our plans to spend two weeks in Mexico in February, but as soon as we were both fully vaccinated, we loaded up the trailer and headed to Tucson.

Situated just 25 miles south of Tucson, charming little Green Valley, Arizona, offers the best of both worlds: quiet residential streets in a stunning desert setting coupled with easy access to a vibrant, bustling city.
Factor in gorgeous weather from fall through spring, and you have a combo that has long been irresistible to retirees and the âsnowbirdsâ who visit in the winter to escape the cold weather of northern locales.
Indeed, Green Valley, an unincorporated community of about 21,000 people, is known largely as a retirement community. It is made up of a series of subdivisions, many of which are restricted to people 55 years and older.
Industry association welcomes communications coordinator
The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA) announced that Andrea Ortega has joined the organization as a communications coordinator.
Ortega, a local native to the area, graduated from the University of Arizona and has a strong background in marketing, communications, event coordination, import/export knowledge and project management from her work in various organizations. These include the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Peace of Mind Events, Grupo GOCM, Tubac Golf Resort & Spa and the Tubac Chamber of Commerce where she completed one of her last roles as executive director.
Ortega is also involved with various organizations including Arizona Industry Fellows (part of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce) and the Greater Green Valley Community Foundation where she sits as an economic development advisor.
