Qureshi attends SCO’s FMs Council meeting in Dushanbe today

ISLAMABAD: The two-day meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will begin in Dushanbe Tajikistan today (Tuesday). Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is in Dushanbe, will lead the Pakistan delegation at the forum. The foreign ministers of all SCO member states will be participating in the meeting to deliberate upon important regional and international issues. Qureshi will also participate in the meeting of SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group being held at the ministerial level. He will share Pakistan s perspective on the situation in Afghanistan and stress the imperative of a peaceful negotiated political solution.

Peace in Afghanistan is important for trade and economic growth in Pakistan and Tajikistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan said. Addressing a ceremony with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon in Islamabad, he announced that a number of MoUs in trade, education, culture, and defence have been signed between the countries.
