Zachary Russell Willer, 32, of Pleasant Hill, was charged Wednesday with vehicular homicide by reckless driving and vehicular homicide while driving intoxicated, television station KCCI reported.   The Iowa State Patrol said Willer was behind the wheel on March 9 when his vehicle hit a semitrailer stopped at traffic light near Southeast Polk High School. A passenger in Willer s car, 23-year-old Dean Goodenough of Maple Park, died from his injuries, and another passenger was injured.

Updated: 7:51 AM CDT May 6, 2021 A Pleasant Hill man was charged with vehicular homicide Wednesday in connection with a March 9 crash.Zachary Russell Willer, 32, is charged with homicide by vehicle (reckless driving), and homicide by vehicle (OWI).According to the Iowa State Patrol, 23-year-old Illinois resident Dean Goodenough died due to injuries suffered in a crash at Highway 163 and NE 80th Street near Southeast Polk High School.The Iowa State Patrol said Willer struck a semitruck stopped at the NE 80th Street traffic light. Goodenough was a passenger in Willer’s vehicle.Another passenger, 23-year-old Jeffrey Kyleigh, was injured in the crash. The driver of the semitruck was uninjured.

The Iowa State Patrol says a Cadillac Seville driven by 34-year-old Zachary Willer of Pleasant Hill collided with a Semi on Highway 163 around 1:20 this (Tuesday) morning in Pleasant Hill. Authorities say both the car and the semi were eastbound on Highway 163, and car hit the semi after it had stopped at the NE 80th Street stoplight. Willer was taken by helicopter to Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines. A passenger in Willer s car, 23-year-old Dean Goodenough [[GOOD-en-now]] of Maple Park, Illinois was killed. Another passenger in Willer s car, 23-year-old Jeffrey Kyleigh of Des Moines was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The truck driver, 26-year-old Abdulluhi Abdullahi of Eden Praire, Minnesota was not injured.
