SALT LAKE COUNTY â A member of the Salt Lake County Council is proposing an end to the countyâs mask requirements in all county facilities and programs.
Councilwoman Dea Theodore, District 6, said she feels like the pandemic is coming to an end and it is time to stop requiring masks.
âOur county health director back in April did not recommend a county-wide mask mandate. I feel it is time we are able to get rid of masks in our county facilities as well,â she said.
No more masks at libraries, rec centers? That’s what some Salt Lake County Republicans want.
“My worst fear is that we turn the pandemic into a kid-demic,” said one concerned parent, as demand for vaccine drops and infections in children spike.

The at-large Salt Lake County Council candidate took it all in at the Republican watch party, masked and socially distanced at her own table. She was down by 6 percentage points to incumbent Democrat Shireen Ghorbani.
