Injured woman rescued after falling on rocks at Middle Eye

A WOMAN was taken to hospital with an injured hip after falling on rocks while walking on Middle Eye this morning. She was part of couple rescued, along with their dog, by West Kirby lifeboat volunteers who were requested by HM Coastguard to launch at 10.39am following a 999 call. The couple had been on a regular walk to Middle Eye when the lady had fallen on rocks and sustained an injury. They had been able to walk the remaining 150m to Middle Eye so as to rest and for the female casualty to recuperate sufficiently from the injury to walk ashore.

Photo: David Edwards A woman stranded with her children and dogs had to be rescued by West Kirby s lifeboat crew today, as the team were called out twice in quick succession. West Kirby RNLI responded to calls to assist a small party of walkers on Middle Hilbre and then in response to a separate call concerning people in the water by Little Eye. The lifeboat crew were requested by HM Coastguard to launch at 11.03am following a call made by a stranded walker on Middle Hilbre. The woman, along with her two daughters and two medium-sized dogs, had become cut off by the incoming 10-metre high tide.
