Lawrence Police were called to a home in the 10400 block of Draycott Avenue, near East 59th Street and Sunnyside Road, just before midnight on a report of a person shot. When police arrived, they found one man with at least one gunshot wound at the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lawrence crime: Police investigating after man shot to death Wednesday

Police in Lawrence have launched a homicide investigation after a man was shot to death at a home late Wednesday night. Officer with the Lawrence Police Department responded to a person shot in the 10400 block of Draycott Avenue just north of East 59th Street shortly before midnight, according to LPD Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff.  Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound at the residence, and he was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts from emergency medical personnel.  Woodruff noted the man who was shot did not live at the residence but rather was an invited guest there. Investigators do not believe the shooting to be a random act.
