Network Rail chief given extra term
Sir Peter Hendy has been reappointed as chair of Network Rail for another two-year term. Transport secretary Grant Shapps announced the reappointment, with the latest two-year term due to start on 16 July. Hendy has served on the board of Network Rail since 2015. He’s also served as chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation since July 2017.

Plans for 149 new flats in Old Trafford narrowly approved
Proposals are to demolish the multi-storey building at 66 Talbot Road and build two buildings, one six-storey and one 13 storeys in height, for the apartments

How housing could look under the plans (Picture: Trafford Council) RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on a document outlining Trafford Council’s vision and strategy for the regeneration of the area known as the Civic Quarter. The draft Civic Quarter Area Action Plan (AAP) covers a 55 hectare area at the heart of Trafford including the Trafford Town Hall, the international sporting venue of Lancashire Cricket Club and the old B&Q site. Ambitious plans for the area include new homes and offices, enhanced leisure facilities, new public realm including a processional route between Lancashire Cricket Club and Manchester United, and improved cycle and pedestrian connections.
