Trussville Police Chief to speak at Rotary Club meeting

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club announced that Trussville Police Chief Eric Rush will be the featured speaker at its Feb. 17 meeting. “Chief Rush is responsible for the overall supervision and administration of the Police Department,” said Diane Poole, with the Rotary Club. “The Chief makes departmental policy and procedure, as well as overseeing personnel matters. Chief Rush reports to the Mayor.” Rush has been with the department since 1996. He was appointed Chief in 2018. The Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. on the first through fourth Wednesday mornings of each month, usually through Zoom. Trussville City Council approves facility agreement with TCS

By Erica Thomas, managing editor TRUSSVILLE The Trussville City Council approved a revised version of an agreement with Trussville City Schools concerning the use of properties between the two entities. During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, the council unanimously approved the Reciprocal Use Agreement with TCS. In the agreement, the City and TCS agree to “memorialize their longstanding informal reciprocal use agreement in writing to facilitate better understanding of each party’s role in the continued relationship between the parties and to organize, to promote, and to conduct programs and activities that further the education, health and general welfare of the community.”

2 vehicles stolen from Trussville subdivisions found in Birmingham s Gate City

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE Trussville Police are once again reminding residents to lock their cars after two vehicles were stolen in one night. A 2019 Dodge Ram was stolen sometime between Saturday, Jan. 30, and Sunday, Jan. 31, from a home on Spring Street. There was also a firearm inside the truck. The same night, a Chrysler 200 was stolen from a home on Parc Brook Lane. Both vehicles were left unlocked with keys inside, according to investigators. Police said both vehicles were later found and recovered from the Gate City area of Birmingham but no arrests have been made. Police Chief Eric Rush said it is important for people living in Trussville to pay attention before calling it a night.

20-year-old Pinson man charged with attempted murder in Trussville Walmart shooting

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE The Trussville Police Department identified a suspect in the Feb. 2 shooting at Walmart off Chalkville Mountain Road. Jordan Christopher Harris, 20, of Pinson, is charged with attempted murder, criminal mischief second-degree and reckless endangerment. Harris was booked into the Trussville City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $62,000. Investigators said an altercation began after an argument between two employees. One of the employees called her brother and he came to the store with two others, police said. After a fistfight, the other employee, who has now been identified as Harris, went to his vehicle and returned with a gun, firing two shots. Four people were initially detained and Harris was the only one arrested.

Obituary: William Hunter Weaver

On Jan. 23, 2021, William Hunter Weaver, son, brother, and friend of many, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 28. On this day, Hunter was set free and no longer bound to his wheelchair and entered the peaceful life of heaven. He is reunited with his grandparents Bill and Joada Weaver, James and Sue Kerr, and step brother Adam Fanning. He is survived by his parents Traci Hicks (Donny), Blane Weaver (Leigh), sister Brandie Weaver, step brothers Tyler Hicks, Alex Fanning, step sister Ashley Fanning, and Grandparents Don Hicks (Ann), Herbert Putnam (Shelby), as well as extended family that are to many to mention but that he loved dearly and they loved him as well.
