Trussville City Council approves facility agreement with TCS

By Erica Thomas, managing editor TRUSSVILLE The Trussville City Council approved a revised version of an agreement with Trussville City Schools concerning the use of properties between the two entities. During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, the council unanimously approved the Reciprocal Use Agreement with TCS. In the agreement, the City and TCS agree to “memorialize their longstanding informal reciprocal use agreement in writing to facilitate better understanding of each party’s role in the continued relationship between the parties and to organize, to promote, and to conduct programs and activities that further the education, health and general welfare of the community.”

Facebook Share A young Pinson man has been charged after shots were fired inside the Trussville Walmart. Christopher Harris, 20, is charged with attempted murder, second-criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, said Trussville police Sgt. Adam Filetti. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday with bonds totaling $62,000. The gunfire happened midday Tuesday. Filetti said Harris, a Walmart employee, got into an argument with a female employee. The female employee then called her brother to the store.

Sgt.  Adam Filetti said it appears the incident began with an altercation between employees at the store located off Trussville Crossings Parkway. One employee – a female - called someone up to the store during the dispute and that’s when the situation escalated. He said investigators are still trying to sort out the details of what happened. It was just before noon when the two shots were fired inside toward the front of the store.  The initial scanner traffic labeled the unfolding incident as an active shooter situation.

John Lance Cameron, 56, of Dutton, and Rose Marie Tucker, 55, of Birmingham, are charged with first-degree robbery in the Nov. 25 holdup at BBVA on Montgomery Highway. Dutton is in Jackson County. In the Hoover case, authorities said the suspect lifted his shirt, displayed a gun tucked in his waistband, gave the teller a plastic bag and ordered him to put money in the bag. After obtaining the cash, the man left the bank. The suspect was described as a white male, about 50 to 60 years old, and weighing 250 to 300 pounds.
