(City of Cleveland) Facebook Share CLEVELAND, Ohio Deon McCaulley, a deputy chief who has served with the Cleveland Police Department for more than 30 years, is leaving the department to become police chief for the Cleveland Clinic. McCaulley is retiring from the police department on Feb. 15 in order to take the position at the Clinic. “Deputy Chief Deon McCaulley is an excellent leader and although we are sad to see him leave the Cleveland Division of Police, we are pleased to know he will continue to serve alongside our members with an important law enforcement partner” Police Chief Calvin Williams said in a statement. “I wish Deon well and look forward to watching him further his career as chief.”

Deon McCaulley to lead Cleveland Clinic Police Department Deon McCaulley Deon McCaulley has been named the Cleveland Clinic Police Department s chief of police, effective Feb. 15, according to a news release. His duties will include leading and coordinating all major activities for the department, which was established in 1987 and has 170 police officers commissioned through the state of Ohio, and with local municipalities through Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), with full policing authority, including issuing citations, making arrests and helping enforce all local, state and federal laws, according to a news release McCaulley succeeds David Easthon, who helped transform the department from a security operation to a fully functioning police department, according to the release. Easthon, who served as chief of police since April 2011, will continue serving as a Cleveland Clinic Protective Services liaison on a number of safety initiatives with the Clinic s Florida hospitals.

Jackson, Director of Public Safety Karrie D. Howard and Police Chief Calvin D. Williams made the announcement on Thursday morning, thanking Deputy Chief McCaulley for his years of service. “On behalf of the citizens of the City of Cleveland, I want to congratulate Deputy Chief Deon McCaulley for his appointment as the new Chief of Police for the Cleveland Clinic. I know that he will do a great job in his new position, just as he has done here for more than 30 years at the City of Cleveland,” said Mayor Jackson.
