Jones, a former Petersburg fire marshal and City Council candidate known for his activities in the Petersburg business and safety communities, was the victim of an attempted robbery Tuesday night at the Slip In convenience store on South Crater Road. He posted on his Facebook page 45 seconds of store-surveillance video that shows him being approached by the suspects, one of them brandishing a weapon, as well as him fleeing the scene on foot and running across four lanes of Crater Road traffic.
