A NEW pop-up shop in the city is giving shoppers the opportunity to support local businesses while getting their gin, house plants, and vintage furniture fix. Three businesses have set-up shop on Paternoster Row in Carlisle for one week to give city residents the chance to get unique presents for family and friends this Christmas. The Tipsy Filly, Edna Graham, and the Tiny Little Houseplant Shop, kicked off their pop-up shop last weekend with great success. A VIRTUAL Christmas market is officially open for business. Allerdale Borough Council has launched their festive virtual market, Made in Allerdale featuring locally sourced traders, adapting to the challenges of Covid-19. Quirky homegrown businesses like The Tipsy Filly, Northern Brownies and Little Potato Press are selling their wares on the website. A spokesperson for the council said that the aim is Showcasing how our fabulous Allerdale businesses are getting in the festive spirit, encouraging and enabling shoppers to buy local, effortlessly. The small and micro businesses from Cumbrian craftspeople are offering products and experiences exclusively to shoppers of the virtual Christmas market.
