Vaccinating Tasmanians

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Health Tasmanians have done a brilliant job working together to help keep on top of COVID and can be reassured that when a GP practice or State Clinic is ready to take bookings, you will know either through your GP or through Tasmanian Government communications. Unfortunately, incorrect information about participating GP clinics has been released today which has led to unnecessary frustration for both patients and our GPs. I raised my concerns with the Federal Minister earlier today, and I have been assured the confusion is being addressed, with clarity being provided to GP practices that they may choose to limit vaccinations to only their existing patients, if they wish.

Our bold plan for TasTAFE

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training The Tasmanian Liberal Government is taking action to build a bolder TasTAFE which is fit for purpose, industry-specific and offers training specific to the outcomes required. We will do this by adopting PESRAC’s recommendation to transform TasTAFE into the independent government institution it needs to be to best serve the next generation of young people and jobseekers. It will deliver more teachers and more delivery in our regions, contemporary, fit for purpose facilities, more training options, better pay for skilled teachers and flexible hours. Tasmanians want this change, industry want this change, business want this change and it appears the only people that don’t are the anti-skills, anti-jobs Labor party.

Global pandemic heaps more stress on stretched principals

A staggering 47.5% of school leaders are over 56 years of age. 5.5% of school leaders are over 66 years of age. Almost 7% (6.8%) of school leaders plan to retire this year in 2021. KEY RECOMMENDATIONS There are 16 key recommendations in the report including the following: There is an urgent need to establish an independent taskforce to fully investigate the offensive behaviours occurring in schools. Standardisation and risk management of online meetings with parents may be required to ensure quality control and reduce offensive behaviours and are likely to be more convenient for parents and principals. Employers need to take the moral choice of reducing job demands or increase job resources to allow school leaders to cope with the increased workload.
