Gragson s Darlington penalty overturned, wins $100,000 prize | Tireball Sports News, Rumors, Gossip and Opinions

The penalty for the No. 9 JR Motorsports car driven by Noah Gragson has been overturned, restoring his forth place finish and a $100,000 Dash 4 Cash prize. On Wednesday the National Motorsports Final Appears Offier overturned the penalty which stemmed from a NASCAR saying the team had violated Rule 20.14.c in the NASCAR Rule Book, which reads: “All suspension mounts and mounting hardware must not allow movement or realignment of any suspension and/or drivetrain component beyond normal rotation or suspension and/or drivetrain travel.” Briefly the $100,000 prize had been awarded to AJ Allmendinger, but now it is Gragson who gets the money and will be among four drivers looking to win $100,000 at Dover International Speedway on Saturday. He will be joined by Justin Allgaier, Josh Berry and Brandon Jones.

Weekend Preview: Dover International Speedway

Weekend Preview: Dover International Speedway Field Level Media 14 May 2021, 07:05 GMT+10 Historically speaking, when Martin Truex Jr. is on, he is ON. And his dominating showcase at Darlington Raceway last week in South Carolina leading 248 of 293 laps is indicative of the kind of run this Joe Gibbs Racing driver can have again this week. Sunday s venue for the Drydene 400 (2p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) the famed Dover International Speedway one-miler in Delaware isn t just a place the New Jersey native Truex considers a home track but also a venue where he has really taken it to the competition.

NASCAR lifting mask mandate in garage, pits

Fargo, ND, USA / 740 The FAN May 13, 2021 | 12:05 PM Martin Truex Jr. talks on a cell phone after winning the NASCAR Cup Series auto race at Darlington Raceway, Sunday, May 9, 2021, in Darlington, S.C. (AP Photo/Terry Renna) NASCAR has lifted its mask mandate for competitors when outdoors in the garage and pit areas starting this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Masks will still be required when competitors are inside any buildings or team haulers, NASCAR said Thursday. NASCAR says its focus is on encouraging everyone to get vaccinated and preventing indoor spread of COVID-19. NASCAR last weekend had a soft re-opening of the garage area and allowed 350 fully vaccinated sponsors and guests into the competition footprint at Darlington Raceway. It was a trial run to set policy moving forward. The garage is closed at Dover this weekend but will be open to 550 sponsors and guests at Circuit of the Americas in Texas next week.

Column: NASCAR starting to allow access a year after restart

It has taken almost a full year but NASCAR’s slow walk toward normalcy is ready to hit another gear: Daytona International Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Kansas Speedway and Pocono Raceway all announced last week their grandstands will open to full capacity later this year. Atlanta Motor Speedway plans the same for July. NASCAR re-opened its infield to sponsors, guests and media at Darlington last weekend as a trial run. The garage and infield have been closed to nearly everyone since March 8, 2020, and NASCAR President Steve Phelps had said it would remain that way until a vaccine was widely available. Vaccines have been available since early April to almost everyone in North Carolina, where most NASCAR teams are based, and it allowed NASCAR to put a plan in place for a reopening. There is no vaccine requirement for competitors, but NASCAR permitted teams, drivers and manufacturers to admit a total of 350 fully vaccinated guests and sponsors Sunday at Darlington.
