The Blue Jays acquired right-hander Jeremy Beasley from the D-backs in exchange for cash considerations, the club announced Thursday.
The move comes as the Blue Jays are dealing with a significant number of injuries to both their rotation and bullpen early in the season, which has tested their depth already. Beasley, who was recently designated for assignment by the D-backs, will report to the Blue Jays’ alternate training site.
Beasley offers the Blue Jays some length. He could be used as a starter or in a bulk role out of the bullpen, which has become important for the club in April. The 25-year-old came up as a starter with the Angels prior to being dealt to the D-backs for Matt Andriese in early 2020.

TORONTO – George Springer’s debut with the Toronto Blue Jays is on the horizon, perhaps as soon as this weekend against the Tampa Bay Rays, which makes Cavan Biggio’s return to the leadoff spot a temporary fix.
For the time being, though, his on-base skills certainly play there, and the flipping of him and Marcus Semien in the batting order Wednesday got both slumping hitters going in a nervous 6-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox, salvaging a two-game split at Fenway Park.

Blue Jays 6 Red Sox 3
The Jays scored 4 runs in the first two innings against an extremely wild Garrett Richards. But we really should have scored more.
They scored one in the first:
Cavan Biggio walked on four pitches, none of them close to strikes.
Bo Bichette was hit by pitch, and for a moment I thought he was going to charge the mound. I miss George Bell.
Vladimir Guerrero singled home Cavan.
But then Rowdy Tellez hit into a double play and Randal Grichuk ground out. We should have scored more.
Matt Andriese, Adam Ottavino and Matt Barnes each worked a scoreless inning in relief. Barnes earned his third save. I was really excited as soon as I went out there, Rodriguez said. It feels amazing to be back here to step on the mound and be able to compete. . That was something special for me.
Rodriguez was pulled after allowing his second homer of the day, a towering leadoff shot by Randal Grichuk leading off the seventh. Bo Bichette also homered for the Blue Jays, who have lost three straight.
Manager Alex Cora said he likes the way has Rodriguez attacked the strike zone and set up the bullpen this season.
